RIMADESIO COMES TO BOSTON
Rimadesio Boston showroom will be home to Italian firm's patented contemporary sliding door, door, and closet systems

BOSTON [April 4, 2007] —Philip Guarino, owner of the award-winning Arclinea Boston showroom, announced today that he has signed an exclusive deal with the elite Italian manufacturer Rimadesio to open that company’s first New England showroom, which will be located adjacent to Arclinea at 10 St. James Avenue in the Design District.  While distinct spaces, the two showrooms will open to each other, providing a dramatic showcase for the contemporary lifestyle supported by both brands.  Rimadesio Boston is scheduled to open in June 2007.

“An essential element of contemporary design today is open, integrated spaces.  The walls are coming down,” says Guarino.  “Rimadesio’s elegant and innovative sliding door/divider systems and closet/shelving units offer exquisite solutions for today’s lifestyle.  I think that Boston homeowners will be delighted by these amazing designs.”

Rimadesio is a global standard-bearer for elegant and ergonomic space-defining solutions.  Established in 1956 as a home furnishings manufacturer in Desio, Italy, the company soon began experimenting with inventive new methods of processing glass.  Their patented processes would prove integral to Rimadesio’s later emphasis on the production of groundbreaking doors, sliding door/divider and closet/shelving systems. Rimadesio’s fully customized designs have since been installed in residences, prominent office spaces, hotels, and museums worldwide.  The company has established successful showrooms in cities including Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Milan, Paris, Rome, Sao Paulo, Taipei, and Zurich.  The Boston location will be Rimadesio’s first stand-alone showroom in the U.S.  Its products are also available in New York, Miami and Chicago.

“We are very excited to bring Rimadesio to Boston,” says Rimadesio export manager Andrea Romano. “Our products have been embraced around the world, and we feel certain that Boston, which is becoming one of the leading centers for contemporary design in the United States, will be a great fit for the Rimadesio lifestyle.”

The winner of numerous international design awards, including the prestigious ADI Design Index Award, Rimadesio’s designs include a patented sleek sliding door system with overhead rail systems perfectly weighted to prevent swaying and eliminating the need for floor rails, as well as doors with a hidden magnetic system in the frame to assure a firm and quiet close and acoustic insulation.  All Rimadesio products are produced using exceptional materials, including satined, lacquered, and acid-etched glass in a variety of vivid colors, aluminum and grey oak.

“Rimadesio’s exquisite systems, integrated into the sort of modern, open floor plans championed by Arclinea since 2002, will significantly advance the way we live in our homes here in the Boston area,” says Guarino.  “A visit to the interconnected Arclinea Boston and Rimadesio Boston showrooms will demonstrate the tremendous benefits of innovative and spectacular contemporary design.”
