June 20, 2005 — Arclinea Boston—the first flagship showroom
in the
United States for kitchens designed and coordinated by the
acclaimed
Italian architect Antonio Citterio—will provide custom
designer
kitchens for three upcoming condominium developments
throughout Boston,
including Yoo D4 by Starck in the South End, 360 Newbury in
the Back
Bay, and First+First in South Boston.
“Custom kitchens from Arclinea are defined by innovative
design,
creative technology, and exquisite materials,” says
Arclinea Boston
owner Philip Guarino. “It’s exciting to see Arclinea
kitchens become
the new standard for Boston homeowners who seek the best.”
Arclinea Boston’s team of professional architects, led by
senior
project manager Mercedes Farrando, are working closely with
developers
to realize the unique design requirements for each of the
three
projects.
The 26 units at Yoo D4 by Starck, site of a former police
station at 7
Warren Avenue in the South End, are designed by Philippe
Starck. The
units are scheduled for completion in 2006. “We knew that
the kitchens
in these units had to meet a very high standard.” says Yoo
D4’s Panos
Demeter, of the Demeter Development Group. “We were
thrilled when we
found Arclinea Boston. Antonio Citterio’s meticulous and
dynamic
kitchen designs are a perfect fit with the creative vision
of Philippe
Starck, and the union of these two legends has helped to
make Yoo D4 a
highly anticipated project. It’s an added bonus to have
the team at
Arclinea Boston, including their on-staff architects, so
close.”
Meichi Peng, senior designer/manager with ADD Inc, the
company that
provided architectural and interior design services for the
360 Newbury
development, agrees. “After reviewing a number of
alternatives, ADD
Inc recommended Arclinea's high quality product designed by
Antonio
Citterio because its clean, contemporary lines achieved the
look we
wanted for the space. The ease of working with Arclinea’s
talented
senior project manager, Mercedes Farrando, was another
selling point
for us. In addition, the accessibility of the showroom in
Boston,
where the product can be seen and accessories ordered,
makes the
product an attractive option for potential condominium
buyers.” The
exterior of the 360 Newbury building, which currently
houses the Virgin
Megastore, was famously redesigned by architect Frank Gehry
in 1989.
Units are scheduled for completion in 2006.
The First+First townhouse residences in South Boston—also
featuring
Arclinea kitchens— are set for completion in summer 2006.“The decision to hire Arclinea for our latest project,
First+First,
was made for several reasons, not least of which was their
invaluable
experience in kitchen design. Arclinea’s ability to
rationalize how a
kitchen functions has created a more intelligent and
coherent living
environment which I expect will greatly improve the quality
of life for
future First+First homeowners,” says P. Andrew Pappas,
project manager
for Pappas Enterprises.
Based at 10 St. James Avenue in Boston’s Design District,
the Arclinea
Boston showroom showcases examples of the entire Arclinea
collection,
and offers consumers a full-service, turnkey solution to
their kitchen
design process.
